How many gears are there for new energy vehicles?
From tens of thousands of yuan Zhidou D2 to more than one million yuan, pure electric models are all using single-speed transmission.
And the traditional gasoline car gearbox is more and more to do!
So what’s causing this situation?
The new energy vehicle can be charged with an ordinary household plug board, and it will be full in about 8 hours. If you change to a fast charging pile, it will only take 40 minutes.
The LOGO part of the vehicle is opened, which is the charging place.
In fact, new energy vehicles and ordinary gasoline version of the car, the new energy vehicle gear is more convenient and simple, only reverse, stop, forward 3 gear.
Why can’t pure electric vehicles carry ordinary transmissions?
Mainly because the volume and weight of the ordinary gearbox are too large compared with electric vehicles, the battery pack has taken up the whole chassis space, and there is no too much space for placement.
Secondly, the transmission efficiency is not high enough!
Take the dual-clutch transmission with high transmission efficiency as an example, the actual transmission efficiency is about 87%, which means that the original 100 km range of the battery pack is only 87 km after it reaches the wheels.
At the same time, considering the weight factor of the gearbox, it may further reduce the actual endurance!
In addition to the traditional gearbox, Tesla also experimented with a second transmission.
In 2007, a year before the launch of Tesla’s first production car, the Roadster, Tesla commissioned a two-speed transmission made by Xtrac in the UK, which was supposed to work very well, but actually died after 40 seconds.
Due to the technology and cost problems of two-gear transmission, the Roadster could not be mass-produced. In the end, Musk decided to deny the plan of installing two-gear transmission in Roadster and replaced it with single-speed transmission for new energy vehicles, namely the fixed gear ratio transmission used in current pure electric vehicles.
The gearbox on the car has two basic functions, one, with the clutch, to ensure that the car starts normally, not because of the starting load is too large and stall, the other, in the process of the owner changing the speed, through the gear switch (speed ratio) to make the engine stable at the working speed.
The current gearbox technology has been able to fully meet the above two basic demands, so the focus of the current gearbox development is to make the engine more accurate in the speed of the highest fuel efficiency, so there are more and more gears.
